I picked up your Share watcher. How is it used and Do you need another application to use it with? As for my OS I'm on Windows 2000 pro SP4

Unfortunately, according to MSDN this won't work in Win 2000.
It uses WMI classes .
look at win32_ServerConnection ( WMI class) description from MSDN:
